Over 28-30 September 2023, we were proud to support the Brodies Tennis Invitational (BTI) in Edinburgh.

Brodies, one of the country’s leading law firms, have been a long-time customer of ours as well as most recently a wonderful host for our Edinburgh Future Flexible Firm event in October 2023.

In several sessions ahead of the Brodies Tennis Invitational (BTI), Judy Murray encouraged pupils from Davidson’s Mains Primary School in Edinburgh to join a series of tennis workshops which aimed to promote the benefits of sports participation on brain health. The programme was run in conjunction with Brain Health Scotland, the charity partner of BTI, and its ‘My Amazing Brain’ campaign which provides free resources to educators of 8-12 year olds to help children learn how to keep their brain healthy.

According to recent figures from Alzheimer Scotland, there are now an estimated 90,000 people with dementia in Scotland with around 3,000 of these under the age of 65.

The day also saw Judy work with the charity to deliver similar sessions to adults living with dementia and their family members. Later in the week, she hosted similar sessions for senior sports leaders and PE teachers in Edinburgh, who will play a major part in the continued delivery of the programme in the area.

Judy Murray said “This initiative was the perfect way for me to support Brodies Tennis Invitational and its charity partner, Brain Health Scotland, and to help make sure the event makes a positive impact in the community.”

Sophie Fraser, Education and Engagement Lead, Brain Health Scotland said: “We are delighted to have partnered with Brodies Tennis Invitational and Judy Murray on the community outreach programme this week. It’s our aim to inspire and empower young people to learn about the things they can do to keep their brains healthy and to set up good habits early in life. Brain Health Scotland’s goal is to reduce the incidence of dementia across Scotland, and the evidence shows that setting the scene for healthy lifestyle habits early, can make a positive difference towards this.”

Brodies Tennis Invitational took place from 28-30 September 2023 at the EICC, featuring former top 10 players including Feliciano Lopez, Greg Rusedski, Jo Konta and Mark Philippoussis, along with many up-and-coming stars. Visit www.brodiesinvitational.com for more information on the tournament.
