Bringing control and consistency to print across a rapidly growing veterinary network

About VetPartners Group

VetPartners Group is one of Europe’s leading veterinary care providers, with over 850 sites and 12,000 employees.

Their growth has been driven by acquisition. Practices joined the group at pace, each bringing their own systems, suppliers, and ways of working.

This created a strong network of veterinary expertise, but behind the scenes, operational complexity began to build.

Print was one of the clearest pressure points.

Agilico now supports VetPartners in simplifying and standardising print across the group, while keeping the flexibility individual practices rely on.

Challenges

VetPartners scaled quickly, but their infrastructure did not.

In the early stages, newly acquired practices were left to operate independently. Each site made its own decisions, including how they managed print. Over time, this led to a fragmented environment made up of different manufacturers, ageing devices, inconsistent contracts, and a lack of visibility across the group.

As the organisation grew, this became harder to manage.

The central IT team, led by the IT Service Delivery function, found themselves dealing with an increasing number of print-related issues. What should have been a background service became a daily frustration.

At one stage, it was estimated that around half of the IT team’s time was being spent dealing with printers. This pulled focus away from more strategic priorities and slowed progress across the wider business.

At the same time, VetPartners began to shift direction.

With private equity involvement and a new procurement structure in place, there was a clear need to bring consistency across core services. Print was identified as an area where change could deliver immediate operational and cost benefits.

Sustainability was also becoming more important, with environmental performance starting to influence supplier decisions.

VetPartners needed a way to bring control to a complex, decentralised environment without disrupting the day-to-day running of hundreds of practices.

We needed to bring consistency and control to a fragmented print environment. Agilico have helped us do that while still supporting our teams locally.

VetPartner Group

The Solution

Agilico introduced a managed print approach designed to work at both a central and local level.

Rather than enforcing a rigid standard, the focus was on creating a framework that practices could adopt over time. This allowed VetPartners to move towards a consistent print strategy without forcing immediate change across every site.

Each practice was supported with the right solution for their needs. This included a mix of new devices and Agilico Zero remanufactured MFDs, giving them flexibility while aligning to wider group objectives.

Agilico Zero played an important role in supporting VetPartners’ sustainability goals.

By remanufacturing existing devices, the solution helps:

  • Cut carbon emissions associated with manufacturing new devices and parts by at least 500 kg CO2e per machine
  • Reduce unnecessary waste by extending the life of existing equipment and keeping materials out of landfill

Alongside hardware, Agilico removed the burden from internal teams.

Support calls were directed to Agilico instead of the central IT function, immediately reducing pressure on internal resources. A central portal also gave the team visibility of the fleet, allowing them to monitor usage and performance across multiple sites.

The rollout has been steady and controlled, with new practices joining regularly while maintaining service quality.

The Results

The impact has been felt both centrally and locally.

Across the group, print-related issues are no longer consuming the same level of IT resource. This has allowed the central team to refocus on higher-value work and improve overall service delivery.

Practices now benefit from a more consistent and reliable print setup. Devices are better suited to their needs, support is easier to access, and issues are resolved faster.

At a group level, VetPartners has gained greater visibility and control. What was once a fragmented environment is gradually becoming more structured and manageable.

Agilico is now supporting between 20 and 30 practices, with new sites being onboarded each month. When practices engage with Agilico, the conversion rate is strong, reflecting the positive experience at site level.

Sustainability is also becoming more visible, with Agilico Zero helping reduce the environmental impact of the print estate as it evolves.

A Local Approach at Scale

One of the biggest concerns from practices was whether a national provider could deliver a local level of service.

This was particularly true for smaller or more remote sites.

At Donview Vets in Inverurie, the team initially believed they were too small and too remote to work with a provider like Agilico. That perception changed quickly.

A local engineer, who lived just minutes away and was already part of the same community, visited the practice in person. That introduction built immediate trust and removed the perceived barrier.

Since then, the relationship has gone from strength to strength, with the practice reporting a high level of satisfaction.

This approach is repeated across other sites, combining national coverage with local familiarity.

Why Agilico

What sets Agilico apart is the balance between scale and service.

VetPartners needed a partner who could operate nationally but still feel local. They also needed flexibility, not a one-size-fits-all solution.

Agilico delivers both.

By offering a mix of new and remanufactured devices, supporting sustainability goals, and taking a consultative approach, Agilico has positioned itself as more than just a supplier.

Instead, they act as a partner, helping VetPartners move away from a fragmented print environment towards a more consistent, efficient model.

Agilico Zero in Action

Driving measurable carbon reduction across VetPartners

Across five VetPartners sites, Agilico Zero is already delivering measurable environmental impact.

Existing and planned installations equate to a total carbon avoidance of over 5.2 tonnes CO2e (5,227 kg CO2e), by removing the need to manufacture new devices and extending the life of existing technology.

This approach not only reduces emissions but also prevents unnecessary waste, supporting VetPartners’ move towards more sustainable, centralised procurement as the rollout continues.

Looking Ahead

VetPartners continues to evolve, with further centralisation expected across its operations.

Print will play a key role in this journey, particularly as sustainability and efficiency remain high on the agenda.

With a growing footprint across the group and strong relationships at both site and head office level, Agilico is well placed to support the next phase.
