The Challenge

Learning Curve was operating a fragmented print estate across multiple UK locations.

Different sites were using different printer types, suppliers and processes. Over time, this had created a legacy environment that was harder for the IT team to manage and less consistent for staff to use.

The challenge was not just about replacing devices.

The team needed better visibility of print usage and costs. They wanted to reduce the operational effort linked to managing multiple leases, consumables and devices. They also needed to remove redundant and outdated IT hardware from the estate.

Learning Curve already had PaperCut in place, but it was not standardised across the whole estate. This limited the opportunity to create one consistent print management experience across every site.

For staff, the experience could vary from site to site.

For the IT team, the print environment had become more complex than it needed to be.

There was also growing demand from centres to modernise the print estate. Learning Curve Group needed a solution that could work across a distributed organisation, while keeping disruption low during a complex multi-site rollout.

The Solution

Agilico worked with Learning Curve to bring its print environment into one managed service.

The project included the replacement of legacy printers across the organisation with a fleet of Agilico Zero BSI Kitemark Certified Remanufactured Ricoh multifunctional devices.

This gave Learning Curve a modern, reliable print estate, while supporting its wider sustainability goals.

Rather than treating the project as a straightforward device swap, Agilico worked closely with Learning Curve’s IT team to plan a phased rollout based on business need.

Each site had to be coordinated ahead of installation. Local teams needed clear communication. Legacy devices had to be removed, returned or recycled correctly. The rollout also had to move at pace without disrupting day-to-day work across the organisation.

Agilico also built on Learning Curve’s existing PaperCut setup, standardising print management across the full estate and moving the organisation from an on-premise platform to PaperCut Hive in the cloud.

This gave Learning Curve a more consistent, scalable and easier-to-manage approach to print.

A key part of the new setup was secure follow-me printing.

Staff can now print from any location, giving them a more flexible and consistent experience across sites. This helps support the way people move and work across a national organisation.

Centralised monitoring also gives Learning Curve better visibility across the business and creates a stronger foundation for reporting, usage control and cost-per-page management.

The Results

Learning Curve now has a print environment that is simpler, more consistent and easier to manage.

The move to a single managed print supplier has reduced complexity for the IT team. It has also removed the pressure of managing a fragmented legacy estate across multiple locations.

Staff now benefit from a more consistent experience wherever they are working.

Follow-me printing gives users the flexibility to print securely from any location, while PaperCut Hive gives the organisation greater visibility and control of print activity across the full estate.

Despite the scale of the rollout, Agilico worked closely with Learning Curve’s IT and site teams to replace the legacy estate with minimal disruption.

The project also delivered a strong sustainability impact.

By choosing Agilico Zero BSI Kitemark Certified Remanufactured Ricoh MFDs, Learning Curve avoided 32,589 kg CO2e emissions compared with the manufacture of brand-new devices. That is 32.6 tonnes of CO2e avoided, equivalent to the positive impact of planting 1,630 trees.

The Agilico Zero fleet also delivered a 72% reduction in energy consumption compared with Learning Curve Group’s previous print fleet. This will save approximately £5,000 in energy costs over the term of the contract.

Learning Curve now has a print infrastructure that is easier to oversee, easier to support and better aligned to the needs of a growing education and training provider.

Added Value

Learning Curve set out to modernise its print estate.

What it gained was a more controlled, consistent and sustainable approach to print across the organisation.

By consolidating under one supplier, the business has simplified support, reduced legacy hardware and created a clearer view of print activity across its sites.

The move to PaperCut Hive has also helped Learning Curve move from a partly standardised print management setup to a cloud-based platform that supports the whole estate.

And by choosing Agilico Zero, the organisation has reduced the carbon and energy impact of its print infrastructure without compromising on the quality or reliability of its devices.

What began as a print refresh became an opportunity to simplify a core part of Learning Curve’s workplace infrastructure.
